Past masters and new painters

For new painter I would think much painters, above all if new, but now I take a new, because next to us but not so next; I think to Willian Turner (1775-1851), English painter, that for much his painting he took from foreign master, as Rubens and Lorrain, but during Italian stay, in fact Venus and Adonis(Fig.1), is mirror to light of Rubens, that he took in Italy, from Paolo Caliari, called Veronese, and that he adopted for three altarpiece in Santa Maria in Vallicella, Rome, and for Romolo and Remo(Fig.2) Turner had come in Italy and he seen Rubens in Rome and Lorrain, who he used for Dido builds Cartage(Fig.3), light of this painter is very next to Lorrain, and he has similar intensity, as critic had ready noted[1], a change that determine some suspect around very influence that Italy had on Turner, because he evidently was very deeply influenced from some painter and from landscape that Italy could offered to Turner.

Maestri passati e nuovi pittori

Per nuovi pittori, penso a molti pittori, soprattutto se nuovi, m con nuovi intend vicini a noi ma non certamente così prossimi; io considero qui William Turner(1775-1851), pittore inglese, che per molti dei suoi dipinti ha ripreso sia Rubens che Lorrain, durante il suo soggiorno italiano, infatti Venere e Adone(Fig.1), resta speculare per la luce intensa ed algida, che lui prese in Italia da Paolo Calieri detto il Veronese, e che poi tradusse nelle tre pale della Vallicella in Roma e Romolo e Remo(Fig.2); Turner venne in Italia e certamente conobbe le opere di Rubens, e per la luce altrettanto forte ripresa da Lorrain, come la critica ha evidenziato[2], per Didone costruisce Cartagine(Fig.3), la luce per questo dipinto è davvero vicina a Lorrain, per la stessa intensità; un cambiamento che desta qualche sospetto intorno all’influenza  che l’Italia ebbe su Turner, perché lui evidentemente era davvero profondamente influenzato  da qualche pittore e dai paesaggi dipinti che l’Italia poteva offrire.
