Asceta in domo
I want consider the Basilian rule and his asceticism
that, differently from habit in Christian Middle orient, some figure of this
habit are Saint Anthony Abbot(a.Ch 251-356)
Saint Pachomius, (a.Ch,292-348) and others. The first think is what is the
difference among these exemplars, because always asceticism, but difference is
that other ascetic lived in caves and town very inhospitable, and the Basilian
rule has let to these monks the life in the convent, therefore the practical is same but organization is
different, because now is predominant the rule, and the difference is very
important, because a modification, very radical, reconcile the ascetic practical
but in different town and through a rule.
Some step show it, the first that we must consider is solitude: “To aid
the soul to concentrate is necessary live in solitude. It is dangerous, in
fact, live among who has fair of God, and refuse of follow his orders; Salomon
learns it: “You not must accompany to choleric, to not habit to his way, and
Saint Paul, the Apostle says: “Therefore go out among them and separate
yourselves”, this is again the way of ascetic practice, and other step: “If we
fear to be tempted to ears or eyes and so habit to sin, if we fear to our soul
the mortal danger is we keep in our memory the things that we have seen or things
heard, if we want continue to prayer we must begin to live alone. We are going
to succeed so may to escape that habit of live like stranger to orders of
Christ”. Other step underlines the faith of this mysticism to goodness of God: “After
the offended our God through our indifference to signs of his goodness, we aren’t
were quieted by his goodness and liked devoid of his love, but we are took of
death and given to life, and by our lord Jesus Christ, and way that he has
saved us is worthy greater admiration: “He being God although, he didn’t
consider this condition as privilege, but he private him of this nature and he
took servant condition”. Basil has kept that mysticism but he has changed town;
it is certainly can be a medical change, but Basil has given origin to
conventualism both middle oriental and occidental, he has given a dwell to
mysticism.
