Celata verba
The classic culture is ever life during Middle Age we think that
classical culture is dead and after during Renaissance all is born again, but
is it true? No! Certainly, during Middle Age nothing was cured as classical
culture, language is Latin, but also Greek, from Muslim Spanish, very good
translators from ancient Greek had school of Greek very important; and
classical myth that we find again among author and costume of Christian,
liturgical costume that haven’t ready a definition and are confused between
Christian and pagan and presence of gods on Medieval literature, like Dante’s Divina Commedia, when Dante says: “I saw Thymbraeus, Pallas saw, and Mars,
Still clad in armour round about their father, Gaze at the scattered members of
the giants…”, Pallas is a goodness as Mars, but pagan, therefore Dante had
certainly known these goods and culture that had hold these presence; as Nicola
Pisano(Fig.1) had known classical culture for his sculpture(Figg.1-2), and
Petrarca, Italian poetry of 14th century had wrote in Latin for his
life, and had took from classical culture for every his books, Valerio Massimo
for his De viris illustribus, Africa and other he red Tito Livio and
he had loved every leaders of ancient, for Petrarca Christian culture is alone
a marginal presence, but he is forward classical culture, as Giovanni Boccaccio
who had took myth of war of Troy and he had written that Filostrato; therefore Middle Age known perfectly to distinguish
between pagan and Christin faith, but Middle Age tolerated this cultural mixt
because this isn’t dangerous, by now it was history, and the strong presence of
classical culture was motive of pride not certainly for to worry, as Ristoro d’Arezzo,
Italian artist, who compelled for scorn that he sees to fragment of ancient
vases; therefore Middle Age had very respect for ancient culture, and used it
for literature and poetry and other.
