Roman Sunday
Caesar went out from his home, in ancient city in Roman empire when
still principal language was Latin, broad ways and horsemen, Roman sword to
side, this is gladius, Caesar not was a soldier but he go for the city always
with armies, in conformity with Roman costume, he went in temple of Minerva,
Jove and other gods; after he went to bakery and butcher, and he went back to
home, but went out soon because an appointment calls him; in fact Caesar on
street gone outskirts and there seen his friend with he had drunk in inn, very
poor but for the two friends it was very rich,
because at that inn were connected very much memories, above all Flavia
for Caesar and Diana for his friend Livius, by now alone beautiful memories because
in conformity with Roman costume marry was very soon and divorce as much soon;
in fact in ancient Rome it was very easy marry, was sufficient to know a woman
and one can consider married, but for divorce as much easy; thereafter at
evening you were single and to dinner were married; Caesar and his friend were
divorced, their wife were gone away; and in inn the two friend remembered when
during their army service they had fought against Gaul and British with Caesar,
and every fight was always a tale for them, with richness of particulars that
were always same memories, but on the two friends laugh again, amusing episodes
but also dangerous that two friends lived still with emotive participation because
they had lived, and they remembered above all a night fight that they fought
when they were in army of Pompeo, and other episodes very important for ancient
history; but Caesar remembered above all the sacrifice of Gaio Mucio, better
known as Muzio Scevola, who during siege of Etrurian, when Gaio Mucio tried to
kill Porsenna, king of Etrurian, and after that he failed, he went in crowd of
enemies with knife bloodied and he said: “I am Roman citizen and my name is
Gaio Mucio, as enemy I have tried to kill an enemy, and now I will confront
death with same courage, a Roman can gives death and can confront it with
courageous soul” and Caesar continued with his tale: “Gaio Mucio wanted
demonstrated how much very lower was the body for a Roman soldier in confront
of glory, and he putted his hand on fire, and then Porsenna jumped on the chair
and he was believing that it was alone prodigious and he said: “You have been
enemy more for yourself than me. I would that your value was for my country,
and I would applaud it, but it isn’t therefore I want that are free”; this
episode as much others move Roman soul of two friends, and between wine and
girls they passed day, that then was till afternoon late; therefore, Caesar and
his friend took again their horse and went back home. Day after Caesar got up
and dressed with tunic and he dressed sandal and went out from home, but out he
goggle eyes because he had saw enormous building that he never saw; so much
persons who walked with strange tools to ear and that spoke strange language,
but Caesar with Roman soul not was discouraged and he stopped a woman and he
asked: “Ubi simus femina?” (Where do we are, woman?), and woman was very
astonished both for dress and for language, and she answered: “What? I don’t
understand. What do you want?”, Caesar looked around and he asked again:
“Qualis locum est istum, Roma or Atenes, quare istae insulae sunt magnae? Fosne
vivet in illa imperator?” (How city is this, Rome, or Athens, why these
building is so big? It is residence of Imperator?), and he looked woman, who
not understood, and she tough that Caesar was crazy, therefore she went away.
Caesar was very astonished and looked around for understand, strange horse that
ran but without horseman and they was cover and of strange metal and they have
strange sound, Caesar was devastated, and he turned and wanted go back to home,
but it is disappeared and one skyscraper was, Caesar was more devastated than
before, but he fell a hand on his shoulder and a voice that called him:
“Caesar, quare miratus est?”(Caesar, why do you are so astonished), at these
words Caesar turns soon and look attentively eyes of man who had spoken, and he recognized soon his
friend, and in fact: “Livio, tu es Livio companes meus, felicissimus sum quare
video te in isto magno pago, ubi simus, Livio?”(Livy and you are Livy my
companion, I am very happy because I look you in this great village, but where
do we are, Livy?) and Livy while looked Caesar: “You are in Neo Eborensin, it
is a city that you not know because haven’t visited, I am here by some years,
and you now go with me, I will visit this city”. After then years Caesar was in
park and he was looking with attention a man who wandered for park, Cesar stood
up and approached to him and asked: “Qualis est nomen tuum?” (What is your
